Mikisiw pisim” means Eagle month in Cree. It is the sign of spring of an awaking of warmer days and hunting for wild game.

The Eagle tells it is almost time for harvest wild traditional food.  When the Creator created the world, the Creator had chosen the eagle to be the leader of the sky. They can fly higher than any other bird.

Eagle are considered to be the most sacred in Aboriginal traditional cultures. Eagles are to be honoured with our deepest respect, for the eagles have a closer connection to our Creator. The Eagles are the messengers but also represent love within the 7 Grandfather teachings, The Eagle was chosen to have the honour, to take our prayers to our Creator.
